THE STORY BEHIND OUR NAME
Inspired by Adam in Genesis
Adam’s Garden Ministries is not named after its founder. The name is inspired by Adam in the book of Genesis and the responsibility God gave him to tend and care for the garden. For us, that garden represents more than the land—it represents people, families, communities, and the places God has entrusted to our care.

That calling to cultivate, nurture, and steward is at the heart of our ministry. We seek to create environments where people can grow in faith, discover purpose, experience restoration, and ultimately flourish.

Our Core Purpose
We believe that every individual is a unique reflection of God’s love, with gifts, potential, and a story that matters. Adam’s Garden Ministries exists to provide fertile ground for transformation—spiritually, emotionally, and physically—by tending to the needs of the whole person. Through outreach, education, prayer, mental health services, and compassionate community care, we empower people to discover or rediscover hope, embrace their true selves, and flourish in faith.

FOUNDER & LEADERSHIP
Darrin Adams
Darrin Adams is a pioneer, business visionary, mental health advocate, and transformational leader. His career has been dedicated to developing organizations and services that help individuals and families build pathways to stability, healing, and long term success. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to prevention, community advancement, and sustainable change.

A graduate of Elizabeth City State University, Mr. Adams earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. He began his professional career as a Virginia State Probation and Parole Officer, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges facing individuals involved in the justice system. That experience deepened his conviction that meaningful change must begin long before a family reaches a point of crisis.

Guided by a passion for prevention, Mr. Adams transitioned into youth advocacy and intensive in home services, working closely with children and their families. Through this work, he recognized that sustainable progress requires support for the whole family, not simply intervention with one individual. This understanding became the foundation of his child centered and family focused approach to service.

In 2006, Mr. Adams founded Pathways Developmental Services, Inc., a full service mental health agency committed to compassionate and community based care. Today, he serves as President and CEO of seven nonprofit and for profit corporations that support individuals and families across multiple areas of need. His ability to transform vision into sustainable organizations has distinguished him as an innovative entrepreneur and influential community leader.

Through Adam’s Garden Ministries, Inc., Mr. Adams brings together his Christian faith, professional expertise, and commitment to serving others. The ministry’s name is rooted in Genesis and the biblical calling given to Adam to cultivate and care for the garden entrusted to him—not Mr. Adams’ surname. His vision extends beyond meeting immediate needs to creating opportunities for restoration, empowerment, and lasting transformation. Under his leadership, the ministry seeks to cultivate hope, strengthen families, and build flourishing communities for generations to come.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Darrin Adams is a devoted family man, husband, and father whose commitment to strengthening families begins at home. His personal values reflect the same faith, compassion, and sense of responsibility that guide his work throughout the community. For Mr. Adams, leadership is not simply what he does; it is an expression of who he is and the legacy he is committed to building.
